A Message from Kirk

Dear Voter,

As we consider and address the issues facing us on a state level I highlight just a few below this message and I do so through the eyes of being your next Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina.  I most certainly understand the importance of the position held by the Lt. Governor and the duties he or she must discharge at any given time.

My personal code requires me to remain vigilent in executing the duties of any command and I do so with a sense of pride, obligation and tireless due diligence.  I have operated with this personal constitution on a worldwide platform and in situations where success versus failure could be measured in the number of lives protected against the ones who paid the ultimate price found in the costs of war.  I intend to approach my elected position with the same attention to detail, passion, empathy, vigor, enthusiasm and professionalism as I have demonstrated in past efforts.

In crafting a strong list of platform issues I am reminded that among other obligations, the work of an effective Lt. Governor includes working within and between educational systems, regulators, committees and commissions that bring to the table a combination of a diverse  professional disciplines from across those domains; and with a goal of delivering safe, quality and valuable education to North Carolina families.

My operational experience required me to work with individuals in the highest levels of foreign and domestic governments; across geo-political domains and to bridge cultural voids.  North Carolina needs an individual like me whom has demonstrated, verifiable and  proven experience in delivering positive mission outcomes – I am that man.  In a time where each decision can be critical and with a significant quality of life impact on our resident, bringing an experienced and proven “operator” to the helm is wisdom at work.

I am also mindful that the duty of any elected official is to bring the will of the people to government.  It is, in essence, the means by which the will of the voter translates to a voice in the legislative measures and enforcment of our constitution as a noble state.  I understand that the true nature of government in its' best form is to bring resolve where possible and provide effective government operations to the tax paying public.

In service and life I remain true to my own spiritual, moral and ethical convicttions steeped in conservative & Christian values while still being able to provide both a personal ear and a public voice to all people.
Driven by the principles of duty and faith I proudly offer you these platform positions on just a few of today’s important issues.  Thank You for your time and support.

Strength & Courage,

KP

THE ISSUES OF TODAY

CRIME & GUN SAFETY

The assault on “the good of the community” with the murder of duly sworn police officers requires swift, immediate and decisive legislative reform.  Weapons drawn and used against police officers in the course of any action or other crimes should be met with the strongest response available to the courts. Killing of a police officer should receive the harshest of judgement allowed under the law.

Kirk believes that it is indeed possible for individuals to retain a right to bear arms as written in the constitution while fostering a safe, thriving and prosperous community. Gun violence is not a gun problem - it's an attitude and culture problem. We somehow allowed it to flourish in our society. Turning the tides on this problem starts with changing the message and images we put before our children

EDUCATION

School committees and administrators have been faced with making difficult choices to keep schools functional, while at the same time concerned parents had to wade through a myriad of new regulations to protect the best interests of their children.  Choice is the operative word when it comes to education.  One size does not fit all.  As a concerned parent, Kirk stands with those who insist that school boards and administrators not bend to political expediency or any personal agendas at the expense of those they serve – the parents.  It is time we start "thinking outside of the box" when it comes to providing educational choices for a vast variety of backgrounds, learning abilities, aptitudes and long term life goals.

Kirk supports the development, expansion and support from the existing educational providers to help develop and expand home school programs.  While Kirk champions traditional learning environments, he feels there is great room for educational expansion into the areas of high tech, the trades, public service and the service industries.  Many of those career paths require a specialized curriculum and learning plan not commonly found or perhaps grossly under-served in an existing school system.  Kirk Peavy wants to change that by seeing ever expanding training and learning opportunities for students who seek a career not aligned with traditional two or four year college educational programs.

As a parent and leader Kirk believes it is time we teach our children rather than indoctrinate them.

LABOR, INDUSTRY AND BUSINESS

As a small business owner Kirk Peavey is the first to express his concern and frustration over the devastation brought upon the economy, in particular, small businesses in the area in a post pandemic world.  With the arrival of COVID and the list of restrictions that resulted, many small businesses had to shutter their doors and lost their investments, credit worthiness, collateral for loans and in some case their entire life savings.

Kirk Peavy knows that there must be a plan in place to restore the vibrancy of the small businesses that remain the fabric of our local landscapes and the pride of our towns. Kirk is calling on leadership to establish a multi-jurisdictional committee to help small business owners access federal, state and regional resources to help harness the tentacles of these various programs into one single point resource that can and will provide immediate and timely access to affected small business owners.

PUBLIC SAFETY & INFRASTRUCTURE

When it comes to the roads and by-ways which our residents and visitors travel it is frightening to realize that 9.3% of bridges in NC are deemed unsafe and 14% of roads in need of major repair.  The disrepair costs an average cost of $500.00 per driver in NC as a result.  (Reference federal “infrastructure dollars” and a plan to access it for NC).  This simply speaks to a lack of preventive maintenance planning and execution.  Our state should not be “behind the curve” on this issue.  There is no reasonable excuse to let safety become a secondary issue.

Public Safety, First Responders and Correctional personnel are now subject to greater risk, dangers and with a possible greater lethality.  Kirk thinks it is time to acknowledge this increased risk with special hazardous duty pay to be added to wages of these workers when certain risk factors are present as we have recently seen.

HEALTHCARE

Kirk Peavy believes the biggest challenge facing healthcare in the future is not the arrival of new threats to public health but rather the mass exodus taking place among trained, but exhausted health care workers They are burned out over excessive demands, short staffing, increased restrictions and more so, the devastating emotional toll all this has taken on them and they have nothing left to give.  Some seek new careers, and some simply detach from the workforce all together.

The question that remains unanswered right now is how do we stem this tide of exiting healthcare professionals and seed the ranks of those who will become the next generation healthcare providers? Kirk Peavy knows that the best option on this note as your next Lt. Governor is for him to work with contacts in the educational system which he is a member and to foster creation of new programs, incentives and other avenues by which we can be seen as attractive career positions by new graduates.  Attracting locally sourced talent can help lend itself to the chances the person will remain in the area for the long term.  Local talent -= local solutions.
